Millenium Choir

Age Range: 12+
Ability Level: All abilities welcome

Millennium Choir loves to try out new (and often outlandish) music that challenges, surprises, and entertains. Over the years their repertoire has included children’s rights, autism, the Lone Ranger, pregnancy, Frankenstein, tracheostomies and World War 1. They  intersperse these original creations with new arrangements of well-known songs, e.g. the Bee Gees, Glenn Miller, Queen, Hoagy Carmichael, Joni Mitchell, Jake Thackray, Tom Lehrer…..

Enthusiasm, sociability and willingness to have a lot of fun doing something different is more important than a high level of musical ability or experience

The group performs about five or six times a year. Venues for past gigs include Keswick and Whitby Film Festivals, the Sage Theatre Gateshead, halfway up Ingleborough, various streets and village/church halls, and the good old Gregson itself.

Proceeds from performances usually go to worthy causes, such as Akany Avoko, a charity in Madagascar that has strong links with Lancaster.
