Café Bar & Yarden
You are welcome to make use of the Café Bar anytime e.g. if you are waiting for an event in another part of the building. You do not need to buy food or drink whilst you wait.
Tables in the Café Bar can be booked for wheelchair users and community groups only. Please advise if you would like a specific table that best meets your needs e.g. close to entry/exit. To access the Café Bar from ground floor level (stepped access) there is a push door 80cm from the main hallway near the lift; or there is step free access from Moor Gate with an accessible height doorbell on the main front door (the purple one) to tell someone you want to enter through this door.
There are a range of table sizes and chairs and padded bench seating. Seating is over two levels. If you are attending an event or meeting in the Café Bar you may want to ask the organiser where they will be located as the higher level of the Café Bar has stepped access only. To access the higher level of the Café Bar (and the door to the Yarden from inside) there are 4 stairs, 110cm wide and 17cm high. There is a banister on one side of these stairs.
You can also access the Café Bar directly through the door from the Gregson Yarden. This door opens inwards (from the outside) with a handle and outwards (from the inside) with a push bar. The door is a double fire door 120cm wide in total. Once inside there are 2 uneven steps down into the Café Bar which have visual contrasting strips on the edge of the steps. The largest stair tread is 20cm high and the smaller is 18cm high. There is no handrail.
If you want to visit the Gregson Yarden there is step free access along an 80cm wide alleyway off Bath Street. If you are unsure where this is – please ring the accessible doorbell at the front of the building and ask a member of staff.
The Hall
There is step free access to the hall directly through double doors off Williamson Road. This door opens from the inside only. Use the accessible doorbell on the main door to tell someone if you want this door to be opened for you.
The door from the building into the Hall is a double door that opens outwards and is 85cm wide in total.
The balcony in the Hall has stepped access only. There are 13 steps up from the Hall of 21cm height each. There is a banister, and the stairs turn to the right. There is also a route to the balcony from the 1st floor.
The Hall has a portable stage which has an accessible ramp with handrails.
First Floor Landing
The landing area is 90cm wide at the narrowest point. The lift door opens out onto the landing so be cautious when waiting for an event or activity in this area.
Olive Bar/Meeting Room
These rooms are connected by a room divider which means sometimes you will be at an event in the whole space, and other times just in one half of the space – Olive bar or Meeting Room. The Olive Bar door opens outwards manually and is 88 wide.
The meeting room door opens inwards and is 86cm wide. This door is heavy so don’t be afraid to give it a shove (but don’t let it shove you back!).
The Secret Cinema
The cinema is found to the left of the top of the stairs (when facing as if you had some up the stairs). The door opens outwards and is 62cm at the widest point. The first 3 rows of seats can be moved (as a row). Seats are available on entry level and there are two elevated rows accessed by steps.
