Sensory considerations
The Gregson is a vibrant community space used by many individuals and groups for a wide range of activities. This means sometimes it can be noisy and busy!
Checking the website to see ‘what’s on’ may help you decide when to visit. Typically, the day times are quieter in the building. You can use the ‘Popular Times’ feature (scroll down and you will see this heading in the right hand column) on Google which will give you an indication on business at different times of the day.
The Gregson currently has LED lighting throughout. We also have ways of changing the lighting in different spaces to meet different needs.
We are currently working to develop a system where you can easily check how different needs will be met at each event and people can decide with confidence if the event will be right for them. Please check back soon for more information
Dogs
The Gregson is dog friendly. We ask that all dogs are kept on a lead. Dogs are able to go on the seats but you must bring a blanket for them to sit on. There are dog treats and a water bowl in the Cafe Bar.
Event pages will specify arrangements for dogs.
Event information
Many events happen at the Gregson, some organised by our charity directly and some organised by community champions and visiting companies and bands.
This means the layouts and access needs for events will change. Please contact us directly so we can help manage your expectations. Often we’ll know the answer and when we don’t we’ll make enquiries on your behalf.
All seating for events is temporary and moveable. Only the seats in the cinema have arm rests and are mainly fixed, although the first two rows can be moved as whole rows. Event information on the website may tell you whether the event is seated, standing or both.

Ear plugs are available free of charge at all events. Please ask a member of staff for these.
Accessible Ticketing
Companion Tickets
Essential companions can come for free along with the purchase of a non-companion ticket. These are usually available at the online booking link. Free/low cost events
For many events, we keep a number of non-means-tested Free Tickets available to those who need them. You will not be asked for personal information about your circumstances to access these tickets when they are available. To see if an event has free tickets available, go to the online booking link or get in touch.
