William Kite Has Memory Issues
Age Range: 12+ Advised
Despite dementia becoming increasingly common in an ageing population, it remains a relatively unknown quantity to many.
This 45-minute drama, based on the writer’s experience of seeking support for someone with early-onset Alzheimer’s disease, features the various steps, frustrations and difficulties encountered on one patient’s journey from development of initial symptoms to eventual diagnosis.
The show focuses on gentle, 60-something William Kite and his interactions with various individuals and agencies – doctor, police, fraudsters, occupational therapist, social worker, friends, and others – as he attempts to come to terms with his changing reality.
It aims to provide an entertaining, enriching and often humorous audience experience in its depiction of the impact of encroaching dementia on an intelligent, independent, likeable individual.
The show is operating on a pay-what-you-feel basis, with all proceeds going to dementia charities.
There is no booking for this show – just turn up – so tickets will be sold on a first-come-first-served basis.
