The Border Readers present an evening of intimate, short stories about people in and out of love.
Performed by renowned professional actors in a relaxed setting, they will be presenting:
‘The Row’ by Penelope Lively
A whip smart piece of comic writing on the ups and downs of married life from the much loved Booker prize winning author.
‘Taking Flight’ y Helen Hutchinson
The poignant story of would be lovers in Victorian Perthshire and the role played by a rural library in shaping their destinies.
Plastic Heart by Jeremy Page
Jamie dumps Helen so Helen dumps the clothes he bought her…or tries to. A painfully funny take on the hidden perils of starting over.
‘To Belong To’ by Kerry Andrew.
A heart-warming tale of loss and redemption through the healing powers of nature and community on a remote Scottish island.
We are really excited to see the group return after their phenomenal sell-out show ‘Shore Lines’ in 2025.
Doors will open at 7pm
There will be a 20 min interval at approx 8.15pm

About the Border Readers
The Border Readers are Roberta Kerr, Stephen Tomlin and Helen Longworth. Apart from being highly experienced actors with a wealth of BBC radio drama credits all three were part of the celebrated Demi-paradise company that performed promenade Shakespeare and other seasonal entertainments at Lancaster Castle between 2000 – 2016.
