For one night only, storyteller Tim Ralphs (British Award Winning storyteller) is in Lancaster.
Tim will transport you to 1691 and tell the tale of Reverend Robert Kirk, Minister of the Parish of Aberfoyle and what happened when he dipped a quill-pen into ink and began to write…
Kirk was no ordinary minister. As the seventh son of a seventh son, he was said to possess the second sight. And his parish extended beyond the human world. For years, he had travelled the Lowlands, seeking out and studying the mysterious beings who lived alongside us: the Other Crowd. The Good People. The Fairies.
His ambition was extraordinary. Kirk wanted to reveal the truth about the Fair Folk—to offer what he believed was incontrovertible proof of their existence, bring them to the attention of the wider world and scientific community, and perhaps even restore a healthy, happy relationship between their realm and ours.
But the Fair Folk are proud. Secretive. Fiercely protective of their ways.
And when they heard the scratching of Kirk’s quill, they began to listen.
His manuscript was never finished.
Or was it?

These are stories of encounters between Us and Them—stories that can be funny, beautiful and wondrous, but also dark, twisted and superbly strange.
What does it mean to have fallen out of relationship with our nearest neighbours? And what might happen if, just for one night, we dared to believe in them again?

About the storyteller – Tim Ralphs
Joining us at the Gregson from Nottinghamshire on a tour up North, Tim Ralphs is a storyteller rooted in the oral tradition: The craft of a speaker weaving language and gesture to entrance an audience and bring a tale to life. He gained much acclaim at “The Young Storyteller of the Year” competition in 2007, was a British Award for Storytelling Excellence winner in 2012, and has had numerous successful solo shows.
“Words that are applied glibly to other performers – such as brave, experimental and innovative – apply truly to Tim Ralphs. An imagination and talent such as Ralphs, spotlights storytelling as a thoroughly modern performance art form.” – Storynight Torriano. You can find out more about Tim on his Facebook page.

The material contains traditional folklore, with themes of fairytale violence and some grisly imagery.
