The Secret Cinema at the Gregson is a non-commercial cinema space, programmed by incredible Cinema Clubs. Silent Movie & Classic Film Club run a monthly screening on the third Tuesday and show classic and silent films – they’re one of the country’s only silent film clubs!
About Silent Movie & Classic Film Club
The club was set up by Ray and is the Gregson’s longest running cinema club. Events are always well attended and the films shown are always classic and silent film screenings. There is always a chance to offer up film ideas for future screenings and the group often go to the bar after the film to discuss it.
All events are pay as your feel, with a suggested donation of £4 per event. You can find out more about the group on their Facebook page.
What film are Lancaster Silent Movie & Classic Film Club are playing next?
Well that’s a secret! But members of our cinema mailing list (click to join) are emailed film titles at the beginning of every month. We also advertise all screenings in the centre on our Cinema Noticeboard on the main staircase and give clues as to what we’re screening on our socials.
The cinema is a non commercial cinema room meaning we can only share film titles in this way – true to the Secret Cinema experience, if you’d rather we kept it a secret, just rock up and see what’s on.

We’re now delighted that you can order food straight to your seat that will be delivered takeaway style to you from Toast by scanning a QR code in the room, check the menu out here. You can bring food/drink into the cinema with you from elsewhere but only alcohol purchased in the Gregson can be consumed in the cinema.
Private events:
The Secret is getting out and the Secret Cinema is becoming a popular venue for private parties for little humans and grownups! You can hire the cinema for just £17.50 p/h making it ideal for movie marathons, birthday parties and romantic screenings. Find out more about hiring the cinema here.
