Parents for Future group
19 October @ 3:30 pm - 5:30 pm
All ages
Parents For Future Lancaster is a parent-led climate action group providing a community for parents, carers, and anyone with children in their lives, who is concerned about the climate crisis – and wants to find accessible and collaborative ways to take action and build resilience. Join us to turn your worry into action, community and hope.
You will have the opportunity to: – Join monthly family socials (shared food, picnics, walks, etc) – Take part in regular toy/clothes swaps (including themed events, like back to school, Christmas etc) – Be part of accessible ‘campaign’ meetings, to dicuss/work on joint action we can take locally/nationally – Attend collaborative and accessible events to discuss/educate ourselves on important issues like Food Security, Climate adaption – Engage with schools in the local area, to encourage Climate-focused action/education – Take part in family events, to engage our children in Climate and nature issues in a hopeful way – Meet likeminded people and be supported at “Climate circle” wellbeing groups, where our trained Wellbeing Lead will help us collectively navigate our emotions and anxieties around the climate and the future. We are a new group – an offshoot of the national PFF organisation – and so we will grow and change as time goes on. No level of expertise is needed, everyone is welcome.
Remember: This is not about suddenly becoming an activist! This is about turning up with whatever amount of energy and capacity you have. It is about coming together, building resilience, and modelling to our children how to speak up for their future – together, as a group. We will take simple, but meaningful, action – but the emphasis will always be on community, connection and support.
