The BluDogz Band is inviting all-comers to an afternoon of fabulous rock and roll.
Expect great vibes, and a chill afternoon of fantastic music, with covers of some of the best songs of the 50s and 60s.
This event will be really relaxed, come and go feel and family friendly – the main community Cafe Bar downstairs will be open and you’re welcome to purchase food downstairs and eat in the room too.
BluDogz are: Chris Smith, rhythm guitar and vocals; Jim Smith, lead guitar and vocals; Robin Webster, drums and percussion; Jonathan Hirst, bass guitar and vocals. They got together post-COVID to have some musical fun and frolics and the occasional beer. They dabbled with a few musical genres, but what seems to work best for them is 1960s / 1970s pop music – maybe something to do with their combined age being over 280!
This event is a fundraiser for the Gregson’s Roof Fund, kindly organised by BluDogz. Why the roof?
Over the past few years, our charity (the Gregson Community Association – which manages and develops the work at the Gregson Centre) has gone from strength to strength, and our centre is now busier than ever because of community support! But our old Victorian building needs ongoing investment and care to secure its future. Protecting this community-owned space for the long term is one of our biggest priorities, and absolutely essential. We’ve already taken massive steps, with recent investments in new windows and a full time Operations Manager to lead on maintenance and building projects.
Now, the BIG step is tackling the roof…
Many people know that the Greggie needs a new roof, and after a huge amount of work behind the scenes, we’re getting closer to making that happen. We’ve begun identifying major national funders and drafting applications, and community support will play a huge role in helping us unlock that investment – showing funders how much local love there is for the centre and the charity.
Now, the BluDogz are showing their support by hosting this fundraiser for us – isn’t it incredible that members of our community keep doing such amazing things off their own back to support our charity? We’re stronger than ever and can do more and improve our building more and more with community support.
