All abilities welcome
Lancaster Vocal Improv share simple structures for making music together using voices in various ways.
Their sessions are for anyone who enjoys or wants to try making stuff up, expanding creativity and confidence, exploring their voice, and their emphasis is on play and enjoyment.
In this form of improvisation anything goes – there is no right or wrong. All contributions are valued and all voices are welcome. Participants are welcome to bring their own ideas into the mix. Previous experience of improvisation, singing or music is not necessary. This kind of improvisation was originated by the singer Bobby McFerrin and is often called Circle Song or Collaborative Vocal Improvisation. It can be used by large or small groups or individuals. We hope to seed a community of vocal improvisers in Lancaster.
Sessions involve a movement warm up so it’s advisable to wear loose comfortable clothing and bring water.
Spaces are limited, so please let Jude know you’re coming in advance: jude.blodwen@gmail.com or 07989361389
