Gladly Solemn Sound are a choir from Lancaster and who are based at the Gregson who are reviving eighteenth century church music. You can find out more about the choir here.
For their annual concert this year the choir is trying something different…
Normally in a Gladly Solemn Sound concert, songs mainly from the ‘West Gallery’ canon are sung with perhaps one, maybe two, of Paul Guppy’s compositions or arrangements added to the mix. But, this year his singers, told him they want to do a concert of his songs.
The event is by donation with a minimum suggested amount of £5 (cash only on the door please.) All donations will go to Double Joy, an orphanage Gladly Solemn Sound have supported for many years, in Kenya.
