Join a pre-film presentation with local French teacher Franck, and enjoy some classic, iconic, or underappreciated French cinema.

Well that’s a secret! But members of our cinema mailing list (click to join) are emailed film titles at the beginning of every month. We also advertise screenings in the centre on our Cinema Noticeboard on the main staircase and give clues as to what we’re screening on our socials.
The cinema is a non commercial cinema room meaning we can only share film titles in this way – true to the Secret Cinema experience, if you’d rather we kept it a secret, just rock up and see what’s on.

Low light zone – when you enter the room, the lights (LED) will likely be on. These are turned off when the film starts, making the space a low light zone.
Sensory advisory – The cinema is equipped with surround sound. The volume can be controlled by the event lead who will be there on the day. Please be aware that additional advisories will vary from film to film.
Subtitles – Films are in French with English subtitles. Films are usually not captioned – get in touch with event lead Franck for more information on individual films.

Food & drink can be consumed in the cinema. We’re now delighted that you can order food straight to your seat that will be delivered takeaway style to you from Toast by scanning a QR code in the room, check the menu out here. You can bring food/drink into the cinema with you from elsewhere but only alcohol purchased in the Gregson can be consumed in the cinema.
Private events:
The Secret is getting out and the Secret Cinema is becoming a popular venue for private parties for little humans and grownups! You can hire the cinema for just £17.50 p/h making it ideal for movie marathons, birthday parties and romantic screenings. Find out more about hiring the cinema here.
