Join these informal music sessions with community folk band Folk to Folk, playing a variety of folk music from across Europe including a few tunes from the British Isles. Expect Breton dance tunes, music for French and Swedish bal-folk, pipe tunes from Galicia and the Eastern European, gypsy and klezmer traditions.
Session are led by experienced folk musician Sian, and cover playing and arranging folk tunes, style techniques, and playing for dance as an ensemble.
There is no ‘audition’ and sessions are aimed at intermediate level on any acoustic instrument. You must be confident enough with your instrument to be able to play unguided, but beyond this all abilities are welcome.
Folk to Folk is one of the Gregson’s longest running regular groups, with its 20 year anniversary coming up in 2027, and the band often play together for local festivals, dances and events.

A range of acoustic instruments will be used in the space – you should expect the space to be loud.
