You’re invited to our Discovery Day – a day of free activities to get talking, get active, and get creative.

There’ll be taster sessions and drop-ins from some of our 80 community groups, and plenty of opportunities to explore our bustling hub of creativity and community.

We know that getting involved in community and creative activity is good for our wellbeing, and a great way to meet new people. This is what the Gregson was built for, and our charity’s mission now is to put local people in the driving seat of their community! So, our challenge to you – discover something new! Whether you fancy dusting off your dancing shoes or starting a new craft, you may just find your community here.

Here’s the schedule so far! Keep your eyes peeled for more events as they’re announced:

9.30-10am – ACTIVE MEDITATION
No better way to start your day! Come along to this trial session for a new group at the Gregson, and get your head in a peaceful zone ahead of busy day.

10am-12pm – COMMUNITY COFFEE MORNING
Pop in for a free tea or coffee! Bring a friend, or have a natter with a neighbour you’ve never spoken to before, and find out more about what happens in your community over a good brew. 

10am-12pm – IDEAS LAB
What’s missing at the Gregson? What could we do differently? What could other people do? Join this community conversation facilitated by a Gregson Trustee as part of our Community Coffee Morning. Three sessions will run for 20 mins each at 10.30am, 11am and 11.30am.

10am-11pm – CAFE BAR OPEN ALL DAY
Need to sit down in between all that discovering? With homemade cakes from Talk About Tasty, comfort food from our neighbours Toast, Atkinsons coffee and award winning pints, our three-time CAMRA award-winning cafe bar is the perfect place to refuel. 

10am-1pm – CRAFTING FOR A CAUSE
A community of passionate crafters using their skills to support humanitarian projects around the world. Click to find out about their weekly sessions here

12pm – 4pm- QUEER BY GUM COMMUNITY CONVERSATIONS
Have you been into the Queer by Gum Studio yet? Local grassroots LGBTQ+ creative collective Queer by Gum CIC run all sorts of events at the Gregson, including a regular craft club, book club, social events, ceilidhs and more. Come and say hello at their open studio and find out more about what they do!

12.30-2.30pm – TASTER – NEEDLE FELTING
Join the Gregson’s resident needle felter Lin for this fun taster session making a keychain! Drop in anytime, though be warned felting iss hightly addictive, and you’ll likely need an hour to create your finished product! Click to find out about Lin’s regular monthly felting sessions here.

1-1.45pm – TASTER – CAPOEIRA ANGOLA
Try out this Afro-Brasilian art-form merging dance, music, and martial arts, with Andrea from Capoeira Angola OGUM.

1pm-5pm – GAMING IN THE SECRET CINEMA
Do you know about our Secret Cinema? Our non-commercial community cinema space is home to 8 regular film groups and hundreds of private bookings a year. It also happens to be the perfect place to play video games…

2-2.45pm – NORTHERN SOUL
Join Anthony who teaches our regular Salsa and Hustle classes for a Northern Soul dancing taster session. No experience needed!

2-3pm – TASTER – ZINE MAKING
Did you know the Gregson is home to Lancaster’s zine library? Find out more, and have a crack at making your own mini magazine! Click to find out more about our monthly zine making sessions.

3-3.45pm – TASTER – CIRCUS AND JUGGLING
Our weekly Circus group bring this fun juggling workshop. Try your hand at a brilliantly unique new skill and meet the team behind Red Rose Circus. All abilities welcome.

4-4.45pm – TASTER – KUNDALINI WITH KATY
Join Katy for a taster of her regular Kundalini sessions – meditative movement, breath work and mantra that cleanses, energises and brings you harmony. All welcome, adaptations are offered to accommodate different abilities.
