Adventure Film Club shows the most adventurous films covering running, climbing, cycling, travel, skiing, water-sports and more.
Founded by Seth, this film club will help you see the world through the eyes of those who are pushing their bodies, their sport and film making to the edge. If you’ve enjoyed Reel Rock, Banff or Kendal Mountain Festival, then you’ll love these monthly short snaps of gnarliness. The club is free but a suggested donation of £5 (£2 unawaged/NHS/Student) is appreciated.
These screenings are always extremely popular, so please book in advance to avoid disappointment where tickets are available
Seth is a local runner, cyclist, climber and aspiring dirtbag. Often seen shooting shaky useless footage on his phone never to be used.
What film are Adventure Film Club showing next?
Well that’s a secret! But members of our cinema mailing list (click to join) are emailed film titles at the beginning of every month. We also advertise all screenings in the centre on our Cinema Noticeboard on the main staircase and give clues as to what we’re screening on our socials.
The cinema is a non commercial cinema room meaning we can only share film titles in this way – true to the Secret Cinema experience, if you’d rather we kept it a secret, just rock up and see what’s on.

Food & Drink can be consumed in the cinema, and you can even order food straight to your seat, delivered takeaway style, by scanning a QR code in the room. Check the menu out here. You can bring food/drink into the cinema with you from elsewhere but only alcohol purchased in the Gregson can be consumed in the cinema.
Private events – The Secret is getting out and our Cinema is becoming a popular venue for private parties for little humans and grownups alike! You can hire the cinema for just £17.50 an hour, making it ideal for movie marathons, birthday parties and romantic screenings. Find out more here.
Start your own film club – All our film clubs are run by ordinary people from the community with a passion for cinema. If you want to start a film club, get in touch. There are several ways we can support you with reduced room hire and marketing support via our Creative Support Programme.

Sensory advisory: The cinema is equipped with surround sound. The volume can be controlled by the event lead who will be there on the day. Please be aware that additional advisories will vary from film to film.
Low light zone: when you enter the room, the lights (LED) will likely be on. These are turned off when the film starts, making the space a low light zone.
